Our Team

Matthew Johnson – Director (Mechanical Engineer)

Matthew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and has had extensive experience in the Cement, Industrial and Mining project and construction management where he has worked on small, medium and large scale projects. Matthew is also the founder of ammjohn, Ore Processing Services (mineral processing), and was instrumental in establishing 1414Degrees (energy storage), still holding the position of Chief Technical Officer of 1414Degrees.

Aaron Morrish – Director / General Manager (Mechanical Engineer)

Aaron has a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and manufacturing engineering and has vast experience in Industrial and Mining Construction, and large infrastructure projects (+$500M). Aaron has worked world-wide on various projects. Aaron’s areas of expertise is Project and Construction Management and providing plant and equipment specialist advice for Infrastructure Project Delivery Authorities.

Craig Easton – Senior Project Engineer

Craig has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he had vast experience in the manufacturing, automation, project management and Quality Control (Auditor) prior to moving into the Construction & Mining Industry. Craig has managed the delivery of a number of mining, food, and building construction projects, as well as various feasibility studies and minor construction projects. In addition, Craig filled a number of roles on the Port Kembla project (Cost Control, Schedule, Project Engineer, Development Approval, Environmental Officer etc), and has diverse skillset that provides a rounded view to project execution. Craig’s areas of expertise are project management (>$10 million), de-mobilisation and re-location of assorted plants, the design and implementation of systems.

Brett Washington – Senior Project Engineer

Brett has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with more than twenty years’ experience in Project Management, Construction, Project Controls, Quality Management, Commissioning and Engineering. Brett has worked on a vast range of projects ranging from heavy industry, materials handling, rail, manufacturing, desalination and mining etc from small to large scale projects (>$1 billion). Brett’s areas of expertise include Construction Management and Modulisation.

Martin Budz – Senior Project Engineer

Martin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has 20 years experience in Project Management, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering and Lead Commissioning Engineer.

In the past 7 years, Martin has fulfilled a number of key roles in the Construction, Mining and Cement Industry.  Project Engineering support for a lead smelter upgrade in Port Pirie, Commissioning Engineer for various international and local placements, Senior Mechanical Engineer for a cement storage upgrade in New Zealand, Project Engineer for a new VRM slag grinding plant and for various browfields projects in Melbourne, Project Management for design supply and erection of a fully automated cement pipe fabrication facility in Brisbane and Engineering Support to commercial team for the Adelaide Desalination Construction Team.

Peter Thorley – Mechanical Engineer

Peter possesses an enormous technical proficiency and capacity, able to quickly analyse engineering issues and deliver solutions. Originally posted to Hillgrove to fill a short term need, Peter’s management and engineering skills have seen him grow into an essential team member and is heavily relied upon to develop unique and cost competitive solutions to complex issues.

John Mackenzie – Mechanical Designer

John has an Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (AMIEAust.) he has had many years experience designing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining materials handling equipment. After nearly a decade working with Malco Industries in Adelaide, John spent 5 years in the role of Senior Engineer at Australia’s largest steaming coal export mine located in Central Queensland, prior to returning to Adelaide to take up a role as Works Manager with a large manufacturing company for a period of 7 years. John has spent the past 15 years specialising in the design and manufacture of bulk materials handling equipment related to the mining, quarrying, waste recovery and food industries. Due to his first-hand experience on mine sites and in manufacturing, John has gained significant insight into Worlds Best Practices needed to successfully design plant and equipment for long term solutions.

Brody O’Neill – Mechanical Engineer

Brody has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical). Since commencing his engineering career with ammjohn, he has developed significant experience in engineering, design, procurement and project management.

Jason Stals – Senior Project Engineer

Jason has a Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering with more than 24 years experience within roles including Project Engineer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Stepping into SAGE Automation Jason managed mechanical aspects of highly automated equipment in demanding environments. He then entered the food industry expanding experience through Engineering Reliability and Manufacturing principles including TPM, followed by Contracting work to Coca Cola, the Defence Industry within SA and most recently an estimating role for the Pipe and Steel fabrication Industry.

Andrew Pinder – Site Superintendent / Construction Manager

Andrew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and has more than twenty years’ experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Design Management, and Project Controls / Contracts / Quality Management, and has worked many of these roles for both the Client side and the Contractor’s side of projects.

Andrew’s areas of expertise include Project & Construction Management, Constructability, Problem Solving, and Construction Programming, expertise which has been developed from working on a wide range of projects from heavy industry, infrastructure, industrial, building construction, and food processing projects ranging from <$1M to >$3B.
